RAWALPINDI: Six people were arrested after they fought with the motorway police, tore their uniforms and threatened them with dire consequences at toll plaza near Islamabad on Saturday.

An FIR was registered at the Naseerabad police station against the suspects on the complaint of Sub-Inspector Mohammad Ibrahim of the motorway police.

According to the FIR, a police team was on duty at the toll plaza at 5:40pm when they signaled a convoy of vehicles, including a Prado and a civic, to stop as some people were traveling on the boot of one of the vehicles in violation of traffic rules.

When the vehicles stopped, the suspects got out and first started arguing with the police and then hurled threats on them.

They also blocked the road and scuffled with the police, kicking and punching on head and face of the officers, causing bruises on the face of patrolling officer Hammad Khan. They also tore the uniforms of two police officers.

However, police reinforcement reached the spot and helped arrest the six suspects. However, one of their accomplices, identified as Mohammad Ghalib managed to escape.

A police official said the suspects belonged to Swabi and were returning to their hometown from Islamabad. Some of them also claimed that they were close relatives of a government personality. The police booked the seven suspects in the FIR and impounded their vehicles.
