TOBA TEK SINGH: Faisalabad police and the Child Protection and Welfare Bureau (CPWB) on Saturday recovered a critically wounded minor maid from a house in Saeed Colony No 2, Madina Town, who was allegedly subjected to severe torture by her employer couple.

According to Madina Town police, a first information report (FIR) has been registered under sections 328-A, 344 and 201 of the Pakistan Penal Code (PPC) and section 34 of The Punjab Destitute and Neglected Children Act 2004, against the couple and the house owner (employer) was arrested.

In the FIR, the complainant, a CPWB officer, Ms Anam Anwar, stated the police received a phone call on helpline 15 that one Idrees and his wife Mehak Ali had kept an 11-year-old maid in illegal detention in their house and she was seriously injured because of alleged torture by the couple.

Ms Anwar said that acting on the information, police personnel and CPWB officials conducted a raid and recovered a minor girl, Amna, of Chiniot from the house, who had been severely tortured by the couple.

The complainant added that the employers had been inflicting burns on the girl’s head and other body parts with hot iron rods. She said there were multiple fresh and old torture marks on the girl’s body and some of the wounds were bleeding.

Amna told the police that her employers would beat her daily with plastic pipes and keep her locked in a room. She added that her father, Khalid, had handed her over to the couple for domestic work but for the last six months she was not allowed to meet her parents.

City Police Officer Ghulam Mubashar Maiken said the girl had been admitted to the district headquarters hospital, while the suspect Idrees was arrested.

HONOUR KILLING: A young man allegedly killed his wife for ‘honour’ at Chak 515-GB, Rajana, on Saturday.

Complainant Rajab Ali, told police that he was informed by a relative on telephone that his daughter Abida Parveen (22) was severely beaten by her husband Shahid.

He said when he and his relatives reached Chak 515 GB, suspect Shahid and Abida were not home. He said that later he came to know that Shahid had forcibly taken Abida on his motorcycle to a desolate place and shot her dead. He said the suspect dumped the body in a wheat field near Chak 513-GB.

Acting on the complaint, the police arrested the suspect.

Police sources said Shahid suspected that his wife had developed relations with a man of the same village and murdered her for ‘honour’.

KILLED: A sugar mills employee was killed while working on a machine on Saturday at Shorkot.

Rescue 1122 officials said the deceased, Zahid Hussain (30), was working at the Kashmir Sugar Mills when his clothes got entangled in a machine belt and he got crushed to death instantly.
