ISLAMABAD: A polio worker was manhandled by a man when he came over to his house to administer vaccine drops to children, police said on Saturday.

Faizan Sarwar had been deputed by Capital Development Authority (CDA) to administer polio drops to children residing in Ghulshan Colony.

Police said one of the residents from a house in Mohalla Pind Parian told Sarwar that children of the house were gone to the village.

When Sarwar asked for the children’s details, one of the residents of the house attacked him and started abusing him.

He tried to hit Sarwar with a brick but fortunately the neighbours intervened and rescued him, police said.

A case was registered at Tarnol police station against the attacker under charges 353 (assault or criminal force to deter public servant from discharge of his duty), 186 (obstructing public servant in discharge of public functions) and 506 (punishment for criminal intimidation) of the Pakistan Penal Code (PPC).
