Pixar delivers first full Lightyear trailer

Recently, Disney released the first full trailer for Pixar’s Lightyear. Itdoes look like a big film, with intense action, high-tech gadgetry and spacecraft, and epic vistas.

What we do know is that Pixar is touting Lightyear as the “definitive origin story” of Buzz Lightyear, the hero who inspired the toy in the Toy Story films.

Director Angus MacLane, says, “In Toy Story, there seemed to be this incredible backstory to him being a Space Ranger that’s only touched upon, and I always wanted to explore that world further. So my Lighytear pitch was, ‘What was the movie that Andy saw that made him want a Buzz Lightyear toy?’ And now I’m lucky enough to get to make it.”

The movie is set to release on June 17.

Fox Entertainment buys Gumby and will relaunch character

Perhaps most of you have no idea who this old animated character, Gumby, is. Fox Entertainment has acquired the classic stop-motion character Gumby, and all related characters in the Gumbyverse.

Fox has obtained all rights to the vintage cartoon icon, including film, television and streaming, consumer products, licensing, and publishing. Now they’re going to create new animated series, live-action original content, and NFTs, as well as expand the character’s consumer products, licensing and publishing activities.

Gumby said in a statement, “Picking a new home was important to me, and I’ve found great partners in Fox Entertainment. They have a vision for my modern, multi-platform re-emergence, which is thrilling.”

West’s new album “Donda 2”

Rapper Kanye West is boycotting streaming sites, as he said it’s time to “free music from this oppressive system”.

The US rapper is exclusively releasing his new album on his own platform, the Stem Player, after criticising streaming platforms for their treatment of artists.

Writing on Instagram, he said: “Donda 2 will only be available on my own platform, the Stem Player. Not on Apple, Amazon, Spotify or YouTube.

“Today artists get just 12% of the money the industry makes. It’s time to free music from this oppressive system.”

The Stem player is a small handheld device that enables users to split songs into ‘stems’, and is currently retailing online for £147 on its website.
