ISLAMABAD: Two people succumbed to Covid-19 whereas 23 new cases emerged in the federal capital on Friday. The positivity ratio in the area reduced slightly to 0.7pc.

Officials of the capital administration said the deceased were female patients aged between 50 and 89 years, and were residents of G-8.

During the last 24 hours 3,252 tests were conducted in the capital.

Nine cases were reported in the age group of 10-19, followed by four in 30-39, three in 20-29, two in 0-9 and one each in 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, 70-79 and 80 and above.

Likewise, five cases came from F-6, two from G-6 and one each from Lohi Bher, F-11 and F-8, the officials said, adding that addresses of 13 cases were not known.

There are currently 478 active cases in the capital out of which 43 were admitted to hospitals, the officials said, adding that 39 were on oxygen support and three on ventilators.

On the other hand, 20 people tested positive in Rawalpindi district on Friday while 14 new patients recovered from the virus during the last 24 hours.

According to the health authority’s data, the positivity ratio was recorded at 1.9pc. A total of 1,050 samples were collected out of which 1,030 were declared negative. In Rawalpindi district, there are 193 active patients, with 11 in hospitals and 182 home isolated.

Six patients were reported from different parts of Rawalpindi and Chaklala cantonments and three each were reported from city areas and Potohar Town. One patient each was reported from Gujar Khan, Kahuta and Taxila whereas four patients arrived from Chakwal and one from Islamabad.

There are two patients in Benazir Bhutto Hospital, one patient each is in Holy Family Hospital, Bilal Hospital and Fauji Foundation Hospital and six patients are in Rawalpindi Institute of Urology.

There are two patients on ventilators in Rawalpindi, eight on oxygen support and one is stable.
