MANSEHRA: The Election Commission of Pakistan imposed a fine of Rs30,000 on the Chief Minister’s Special Assistant on Population Ahmad Hussain Shah on violation of election rules here on Thursday after he couldn’t satisfy the district monitoring officer during his appearance before the district monitoring officer.

District monitoring officer Hayatullah Jan had served a notice to Ahmad Hussain Shah under Local Government Elections Act 2022 for running a campaign for Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf Balakot tehsil mayor’s aspirant Mushtaq Ahmad Khan and announcing development schemes earlier this week.

Mr Shah appeared before Mr Jan personally and apprised him of the situation and other circumstances in which he addressed a public gathering in Balakot late last month.

The order issued by the Election Commission following the appearance of Mr Shah revealed that the latter couldn’t satisfy the district monitoring officer and hence was fined Rs30,000.

The order also warned Mr Shah and PTI aspirant Mushtaq Ahmad Khan of disqualification proceedings if he continued to breach the election code of conduct.

Mr Jan said that Mr Shah may file an appeal against his order before the Election Commission of Pakistan within 3 days after issuance of the instant order.

Mr Shah later deposited Rs30,000 fine in a local bank and submitted the receipt with the district monitoring officer.
