KARACHI: Police on Saturday claimed to have arrested a man allegedly involved in the murder of journalist Athar Mateen.

They said that Mateen, senior news producer of Samaa TV, was shot dead by held suspect Mohammed Ashraf and his accomplice in North Nazimabad on Feb 18 as he resisted their robbery bid.

A police spokesperson said that the suspect was arrested from the Sindh-Balochistan border near Manghopir with the help of all technical resources and CCTV footage of the incident.

“The held suspect is a habitual criminal, and there are several cases registered against him,” he said, adding that efforts were under way to arrest his accomplice.
