MARDAN: A man was shot dead by his nephews over a property dispute in Jalar area here on Monday.

Hoti police station officials said suspects identified as Babar and Imtiaz shot dead their uncle, Waqar, when he was on way back home. The suspects fled the scene.

The police registered FIR against the suspects on the complaint of Abdul Qahar, a brother of the slain person. He told the police that a brawl took place between the alleged killers and his brother a few days ago over some family dispute.

However, locals said the suspects were asking for their mother’s share in inheritance, but their maternal uncle refused to accept the demand. The police said they had started efforts to arrest the killers.
