SHANGLA: A child died and her four siblings fell unconscious and were hospitalised after they reportedly consumed some poisonous substance in Chawga area of Puran tehsil here on Friday.

Dr Ghafoor Khan, medical superintendent at the Shaheed Pir Mohammad Khan Hospital, Puran, told Dawn that five children were brought to the hospital unconscious from Gadezo Patty Chwaga area, and upon initial examination, the doctors found one child expired.

He said the four others were under treatment. However, he said the doctors found nothing in the children’s stomach. He said they were trying to ascertain as to what caused them fall unconscious.

He identified the deceased child as four-year-old Husna Bibi. Her siblings were Marood, 5, Haseena Bibi, 3, Neloo Bibi, 3, and Sajjad Ali, 4.

The MS quoted the family members as saying that they did not know as to what they consumed.

Meanwhile, the Martung police on Friday arrested four suspects wanted by the Lahore police in a murder case.

Shangla police spokesperson Umar Rahman said after receiving communication from the Lahore police, they had started conducting raids to arrest the suspects, who had fled Lahore and arrived in Shangla.

He said the suspects were arrested while fleeing wearing burqa.

The police said the suspects were wanted to the Nawab Town police station of Lahore, and that they would be handed over to Lahore police after fulfilling formalities.
