PESHAWAR: The health department seized a huge quantity of Panadol tablets worth Rs50 million during raids on two warehouses located on the Charsadda Road here, and sealed the premises.

A case was registered against the owner under the Drug Act, 1976, officials said.

They said a team led by drug inspectors raided two godowns and found 1,500 cartons, each containing 60 boxes having 200 tablets each.

The health department officials said the drug had been hoarded due to its increasing demand in the market amid the Covid-19 surge. According to them, it was a cognizable offence under the law and the perpetrator would face punishment.

The officials claimed that a nexus between drug manufacturers and dealers was at play to make money at the cost of people’s lives during the pandemic.
