KOHAT: Coordination committee of Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, has restored membership of 20 suspended leaders on the directives of Prime Minister Imran Khan.

The committee coordinator, MNA Shehryar Afridi, and PTI provincial president Pervez Khattak took the decision after consulting the prime minister, according to a statement issued here on Monday.

One of the restored members is Shafiullah Jan, who had contested the Kohat city mayor elections as an independent after he was refused the ticket. Due to this, the vote was divided and the seat went to JUI-F.

OUTLAW ARRESTED: The Kohat police have taken custody of a proclaimed offender after his arrest by Interpol in Qatar.

Mohammad Bashir had been declared a PO by a local court in 2019 after he killed inspector Amanullah, and injured his two brothers in Bilitang, district police officer Mohammad Suleman said in a statement issued on Monday.

He said the murderer was handed over to the Kohat police and FIA at the Islamabad airport. The outlaw had fled abroad after the murder.

GAS PRESSURE: Chairman parliamentary committee on Kashmir Shehryar Afridi has said the number of sales meter stations will be increased from four to eight in the district to overcome the problem of low gas pressure.

In a statement, he said he had held a meeting with SNGPL officials in that regard.

Meanwhile, the Lachi police foiled two attempts to smuggle hashish from Orakzai district to southern Khyber Pakhtunkhwa by arresting two drug traffickers on the Chamba Gul Road on Monday.

The carriers riding motorcycles were identified as Gul Sharif and Abdul Shakoor, both residents of Orakzai. A total of 10 kilogrammes hashish was recovered from them.

The police registered cases against them.

GAS SUPPLY TO INDUSTRY: The Kohat Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI) on Monday regretted that the local industrial estate had been without gas supply even after 40 years of its establishment.

KCCI former presidents Syed Faiq Shah and Haji Rasheed Paracha aired their grievances during a meeting with additional deputy commissioner (admin) Bashir Ahmed and additional deputy commissioner (finance) Samiur Rehman on Monday.

They demanded the industrial estate should be given special industrial zone status. They said due to total dependence on electricity production cost was high at the units.

The officials assured them of raising their concerns with the departments concerned.
