KARACHI: A suspected robber was shot dead by a citizen while another arrested in Buffer Zone on Sunday, police said.

The Taimuria police said that two armed robbers snatched cash and other valuables from Rahat Mehmood in Sector-15 A/1 near Chaman Hotel. As they were fleeing, the robbery victim pulled out his pistol and fired at them.

They said as a result, one suspected robber, later identified as Raju, 30, was shot and killed. Area people got hold on another suspect, Noman Yaseen, and handed him over to police.

The body was shifted to the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital for completing medico-legal formalities.

Woman dies in hit-and-run

A woman was killed and her husband and a girl were wounded in a hit-and-run accident in Qayyumabad on Sunday.

An Edhi Foundation spokesperson said the couple and their relative girl were on a motorbike when an unidentified vehicle hit them at main Qayyumabad traffic intersection and sped away.

They suffered critical injuries and were taken to the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre, where Shahnaz, 45, was pronounced dead. Her husband, Javed, 50, and Mishal, 8, got admitted for treatment.
