LAHORE: The Pakistan Olympic Association (POA) on Tuesday announced a tiny four-member contingent which will represent the country at the Winter Olympics being held in Beijing from Feb 4 to 24.

The appointment of at least three officials is compulsory as per the rules of the games.

The contingent left for Beijing on Tuesday from Lahore and will reach Beijing on Wednesday.

Hailing from Gilgit-Baltistan, the 26-year-old Muhammad Karim is the only Pakistani athlete who will compete in the Alpine Skiing Slalom event on Feb 16. Syed Noman Ali is the chef de mission while Nadeem Ajmal Khan is the team leader. Mirza Mohammad Qamar will be Covid liaison as well as the coach.

The Pakistan contingent has completed all the Covid-19 requirements before travelling to Beijing as per instructions of the Embassy of People’s Republic of China as well as the Beijing 2022 Olympic Winter Games.
