GUJRANWALA, Nov 25: An anti-terrorism court No 1 continued the hearing of Sialkot prison case and recorded the statement of additional district and sessions judge Nazir Ahmad on Friday. The eyewitness said the three assistant superintendents of the jail mixed up with the prisoners and they failed to protect the judges.

Mr Ahmad said the investigation of the case was not done on merit as investigation team recorded bogus statements of witnesses.

He said the operation was conducted without the permission of Lahore High Court. Police started firing without provocation which continued for eight minutes.

He said when the operation was ended two of the prisoners were alive. A senior police officer verified their identity and ordered to kill them.

The defence counsel completed their cross-examination of the witness and the court adjourned the hearing for Dec 2. Trauma centres: The health department will construct three trauma centres on the GT Road.

Reports said the health department received complaints that many people injured in road accidents in and around the city had to be shifted to Lahore owing to their serious condition as there was no emergency centre on the GT Road except the DHQ Hospital.

It was also suggested that separate trauma centres should be constructed on the GT Road.

The department gave an approval for the construction of three trauma centres. Land for one centre has been acquired near the Shaheenabad locality, while a search is on for the remaining two centres.

A feasibility report in this regard has been sought from the district coordination officer through the executive district officer (health).
