NEW DELHI, Nov 24: India said on Thursday there had been no let-up in the number of militants sneaking into Indian Kashmir from the Pakistani side despite pledges by Islamabad to seek to halt the flow.

The infiltration level this year “is almost the same as last year,” junior foreign minister E. Ahmed said but gave no figures.

He added in a written parliamentary statement the government had told Pakistan it had taken no effective action to permanently dismantle “the infrastructure of support to terrorism,” the PTI reported.

He added the Indian premier had told US Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice a halt to infiltration and terrorist attacks targeting India was essential for New Delhi’s peace process with Pakistan to succeed.—AFP
