PESHAWAR: Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam-Fazl has said postings and transfers of administrative officers in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa after announcement of the schedule for local body elections is unlawful, and asked the Election Commission of Pakistan to take notice of the violation of its election code of conduct.

The demand was made at a meeting of the provincial executive council of the party on Sunday, which also discussed the selection of candidates for the second phase of the election to be held in 18 districts of KP on March 27.

JUI-F provincial chief Maulana Attaur Rehman chaired the meeting, according to a statement.

The party leaders demanded of the election commission to direct the government to cancel postings and transfers of officers.

They said the provincial government was planning pre-poll rigging to achieve the desired results in the elections.

The JUI-F leaders said the people of KP would reject the Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf in the local body polls.
