SWABI: The Women University Swabi was closed on Friday after suspected cases of coronavirus were reported from some students.

A notification issued by the varsity’s registrar Dr Shamsul Hussain, said, “In light of the reported suspected cases of Covid-19, all the academic activities at the varsity are shifted to online mode with immediate effect.”

However, it was not mentioned as to how many suspected cases were reported from the university.

The notification further said that the scheduled examinations and other academic activities, including classes, would continue online. It asked the heads of all the departments and sections to ensure that the staff attended the offices with strict observance of Covid-19-related SOPs.

When contacted, an official said that symptoms of coronavirus were found in some students, whose samples were taken and sent to laboratory for testing.

Meanwhile, the police on Friday arrested two electricity transformer thieves and recovered oil and coils from them.

The DSP Chota Lahor said that Aninullah, belonging to Afghanistan and currently living in Peshawar, and Sohail Liaqat of Chamkani, Peshawar, were arrested.
