GWADAR: Two alleged kidnappers were killed in a heavy exchange of fire with Levies Force on Monday in the Sorran area of Panjgur.

The Levies Force personnel also recovered two people who had been kidnapped by the armed men from the Cheetkan and Prom areas four days ago at gunpoint.

Panjgur’s Deputy Commissioner Abdul Razzak Sasoli told Dawn that after receiving information about the presence of the alleged kidnappers in Sorran, a Levies Force contingent headed by Assistant Commissioner Barkat Baloch conducted an operation in the area along with other security forces personnel.

When the security personnel reached the place, the kidnappers began firing indiscriminately, upon which security personnel also took position and returned fire.

The heavy exchange of fire continued for an hour, leaving two kidnappers dead and another injured.

“Two abductees who were identified as Hafeez Qadir and Munir Ahmed were safely recovered from the kidnappers’ hideout,” Mr Sasoli said.

The injured and other members of the kidnappers’ gang managed to escape from the site.

The kidnappers killed during the operation were identified as Mohim Khan and Asad, residents of Prom and Suntsar.

“The people and tribal elders of Panjgur also extended their full cooperation in recovering the abductees,” Mr Sasoli said.
