LAHORE: Opposition leader in the Punjab Assembly Hamza Shehbaz says that his party, PML-N, is in contact with other opposition parties to oust the PTI-led government.

“The PML-N is ready to adopt any option that can send the incumbent government packing,” he said, while talking to the media after condoling with the families of Zafar and Ma’ruf, two of the 23 victims of Murree tragedy, in Kot Lakhpath neighbourhood on Monday.

He said his party was in contact with other opposition parties for the purpose and urged coalition partners of the ruling PTI to revisit their support for the government for the sake of the country.

“Whether it is no-trust motion or mass protests on roads, all options will be availed to remove the incompetent and inept government.”

He criticised the government for failing to rescue the people trapped in snowfall in Murree and claimed that the Shehbaz government had provided state-of-the-art machinery at the hill station for removal of snow from roads and equipped the rescue staff with ‘snow-scooters.’

The opposition leader asked where the helicopters of the prime minister and the Punjab chief minister were when the people trapped in the snowfall were calling for help.

He said the PML-N has submitted a requisition to the Punjab Assembly secretariat to convene a session of the assembly for a threadbare discussion on the Murree tragedy.

The party, he said, would demand a judicial inquiry into the tragedy and that the government would not be allowed to forget the incident without taking those responsible for dereliction of duty to task.
