KARACHI: A teenage girl, who had gone missing on Tuesday, was found dead on Sunday on the city’s outskirts, police said.

Steel Town SHO Akram Arain said that the girl, identified as Shena Ghaus Mohammed, was found dead at a ‘filter plant’ in Achar Goth off National Highway.

The officer said a missing report was filed by the girl’s parents on Jan 6 at the Steel Town police station after she left her home on Jan 4 following a quarrel with her brothers.

The body was shifted to the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre (JPMC) where Additional Police Surgeon Dr Summaiya Syed said that no marks of violence were seen on the body.

She said it seemed she might have died a day before. The cause of death was reserved following a post-mortem examination.

The family told the police that they did not have enmity with anyone. The police were investigating the case.

Minor girl killed in celebratory fire

The Pirabad police on Sunday claimed to have arrested a suspect involved in celebratory firing at a marriage ceremony in Orangi Town which led to the killing of a 10-year-old girl on Saturday night.

According to the police, Madeeha was standing at the door of her home in Orangi Town-5 when a bullet hit her head. She was taken to the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital where she was pronounced dead. Later, the body was shifted to JPMC to fulfil medico-legal formalities.

The additional police surgeon said the body was brought at around 11:00pm at the hospital on Saturday, but the post-mortem was done the next morning due to non-availability of the lady medico-legal officer. The post-mortem report revealed that a bullet passed through her skull causing the death.

SSP Abid Qaimkhani said the girl suffered a bullet injury during aerial firing carried out at the marriage ceremony in the area. He said that the police detained one suspect and registered a manslaughter case against him.
