GUJRAT: At least nine people were injured when a gas cylinder exploded in a restaurant in the market of the Zahoor Elahi Stadium in the Civil Lines police area on Thursday.

Police said a cylinder exploded in the kitchen of the restaurant at around 3:25pm when the customers were being served.

At least nine people, most of them members of the staff, sustained injuries in the blast.

Gujrat District Police Officer Umar Salamat reached the spot and inspected the site, which was cordoned off by the law enforcement agencies.

The injured were shifted to the Aziz Bhatti Shaheed Teaching Hospital by the Rescue 1122 where they were stated to be out of danger.

Police collected forensic evidence from the scene and launched investigation.
