LAHORE: At least 25 persons were killed and 28 injured when Kot Lakhpat township, a suburb of Lahore, was subjected to brutal and barbarous bombardment by Indian warplanes. The enemy planes reportedly dropped six 500 pounders, three of which exploded, causing damage to the houses, while the remaining three remained unexploded.

The victims of the indiscriminate bombing include ten women and ten children. … The planes also strafed various parts of the city of Lahore, but fortunately there were no casualties. IAF also continued strafing the civil population in many other West Wing cities. … At least six persons were killed and seven injured, and about a dozen houses were razed to the ground, by shelling and bombing by the Indian warplanes at Rohri… . — Staff correspondent.

[Meanwhile, as reported by news agencies in Lahore,] An official spokesman said … that the Soviet veto against the latest resolution tabled by the USA and other countries on Indian aggression against Pakistan, was an “unfortunate development”. … Asked to comment on the statement of President Nixon and the possibility of US direct intervention, the spokesman said that he had no indication of US intervention.
