RAWALPINDI: Pakistani forces have captured as many as twenty Indian outposts in the area between Burki and Hussainiwala, including the Khemkaran Customs post on the West Pakistan border and have also made further gains in occupied Kashmir where our troops are dominating Poonch town. An official spokesman told newsmen today [Dec 5] that fighting was continuing near and across the ceasefire line in Jammu and Kashmir and on the Indo-Pakistan border in Punjab plains.

[Meanwhile, our correspondent adds from Rawalpindi,] The Pakistan Air Force responding to the “good hunting” call of its Chief, continued to win spectacular victories in the air and its bag grew by the hour during the past 24 hours. By 9.p.m. last night [Dec 4] it was 74 IAF planes, shot down or damaged. The spokesman said two more Indian pilots have been captured. They are Sq. Leader Davinder Singh Jaffa of the 26th IAF Sq­­u­­­adron based at Adampur and Fl-Lt Vikram (who was admitted to hospital because of injuries).

[Agencies add from the United Nations,] Russia cast its veto for the 106th time today [Dec 5] to oppose the adoption of a US proposal that the Security Council call for a ceasefire in the Indian sub-continent and the withdrawal of troops. Eleven members voted for the resolution. Britain and France abstained. The Soviet Union and Poland cast negative votes.
