HYDERABAD, Nov 18: A large number of power consumers, under the banner of Insan Dost Tehrik and other social welfare organizations, staged a demonstration outside the press club on Friday against Hesco.
They were protesting against issuing of detection and inflated bills and the insulting behaviour of the Hesco officials with consumers.
Speaking on the occasion, Naeem Noorani, Arif Qaimkhani and Zahir Ansar said the officials were issuing the bills to hide their own corrupt practices.
The protesters said that Hesco had registered a false case against an ice factory owner and social activist Umed Ali because he had gone to NAB against a SDO.
Similarly, they said, a bill of Rs1.3 million was issued to a consumer who was living in a 250 square feet house while a poor cart driver was issued a bill of Rs150,000 for one month.
They demanded to withdraw the increase in the power tariff and the case against Umed Ali and his sons.
The protesters suggested that the Wapda chairman and Hesco chief should hold public meetings weekly to hear complaints of the consumers.
They demanded that an inquiry should be held against the SDO of Paretabad.
PRICE CONTROL: Revenue DDO Shahid Abdul Salam Khan has warned shopkeepers to sell consumer goods according to the price list issued by the market committee.
He was speaking at a meeting of the officials of market committee and various traders’ organizations here on Friday.
The DDO directed the officials of the market committee to supply the price list to the retail shopkeepers.
He directed the shopkeepers to display the lists on their shops prominently.
Mr Khan said that strict action be taken against the shopkeepers if complaints of black marketing would be received.
He urged the consumers to register their complaints in his office.
