WITHOUT ELECTRICITY: The Majnoon Khaskheli village of Badin, which has about 80 households and a population of around 250 people, is deprived of the basic facility of electricity. A nearby village is provided with electricity and a survey of our village was conducted, too, a year ago, but nothing has happened since then.

It is unfortunate that we are still dwindling in darkness in this modern era of development. The government should take action in this regard.

GOING MINIMAL: We cry over shortage of food items and their soaring prices, but hardly take any action on our own. Adopting a minimalist lifestyle is the key to peaceful living. Besides, it helps us avoid excessive usage and wastage of food items. The government should take immediate measures to ban buffet, and introduce one-dish system in all private and official functions. We can reduce the number of food items on our dining table. We, the consumers, can control the situation, and we should.

UTILITY STORES: Balochistan has the largest deposits of copper, gold and other minerals in the country. However, the province is as poor as its people. The utility stores, for instance, are available in only seven of 34 districts. The number must be increased and all districts should have at least one such store.

FEAR OF FUTURE: Due to societal pressures and a discouraging environment, students suffer from anxiety over an uncertain future. From passing examinations to getting employed, there is a lot on their minds that stops them from living in the moment. Many students feel frustrated and slide into depression. Being a student, I would like to say to one and all that we cannot change our destiny and the best way to achieve a prosperous future is by focussing on the present.
