KARACHI, Nov 17: Nomination papers of two candidates, Syed Javed Iqbal and Prof Abdul Quadir Shaikh, intending to contest the December 10 by-election for PS-106 and PS-117, were rejected by the respective returning officers on technical ground on Thursday.

Following the development, the candidates now in the field are as follows:

PS-106: Arbab Ali Khan, Khalid Bin Villayat and Syed Athar Raza Rizvi

PS-117: Dr Saghir Ahmad, Fayyaz Ahmad, Habibur Rasheed, Pir Abdul Rasheed and Ms Razia Sultana

PS-120: Naushad Mohammad Zia Qadri, Shamshad Hussain, Mohammad Rashid, Mohammad Hashim Siddiqui and Ahmed Qasim Alvi

In PS-120, nomination papers of all five candidates were accepted as no petition against the nominations was filed.

Two of the three provincial assembly seats have fallen vacant due to the election of Syed Mustafa Kamal as nazim of Karachi district and Kanwar Naveed Jameel as nazim of Hyderabad district. The third one has fallen vacant due to the demise of MPA Ali Bin Hamid.
