LAHORE: Squash legend Jansher Khan inaugurated the Jansher Khan Squash Complex here at the Government College University (GCU) on Thursday.

Jansher, 52, also visited the under-construction squash complex at the Nishter Sports Complex, where the work resumed a couple of months ago after a long period of almost three decades. Sports Board Punjab started the construction work in 1992 but it was stopped due to red-tapism at the half way stage.

The Peshawar-born Jansher, who during an illustrious career won a record eight World Open titles besides bagging British Open crown six times between 1987 and 1998, expressed delight over the construction of the complexes and hoped it would help produce more talented players for Pakistan.

“All educational institutions should provide sports infrastructure to attract youth of the country towards sports,” Jansher insisted.

At the Nishter Sports Complex, DG Sports Punjab Javed Chohan briefed Jansher about the complex currently under construction.
