TAXILA: Two persons died and three others were injured in Attock on Friday.

In the first incident, a person died and three others were injured, all of them critically, when a speeding car overturned on Islamabad-Peshawar motorway near Chach interchange in the jurisdiction of Hazro police station.

Four friends were going to Peshawar from Faisalabad to attend a marriage ceremony when the incident happened due to the driver’s negligence, resulting in the death of 22-year-old Saqib Raza. Abdul Rehman, 21, 24-year-old Usman Ghaffar and 21-year-old Zeeshan were injured.

The injured were taken to Tehsil Headquarters (THQ) Hospital from where they were shifted to Rawalpindi due to their critical condition.

Separately, in a target killing case, a man was shot dead in broad daylight in the jurisdiction of Attock police station.

Quoting eye witnesses, the police said 35-year-old Mumraiz Khan was on Kamra Road when two persons, riding a motorcycle, intercepted him near a private hospital and shot him. The attackers managed to escape.

12 suspects arrested

In a crackdown against anti-social elements, Attock police arrested 12 suspects.

According to a police spokesman, Rango and Attock Khurd police arrested two persons and recovered 2.3kg of hashish from them.

Bassal police raided a gambling den in Pind Sultani area and arrested six people. Gambling tools and bet money amounting to Rs290,000 was also seized. Attock city police also raided a prostitution den in Farooq Azam Colony and arrested four people.
