PESHAWAR: University of Peshawar Vice-chancellor Prof Mohammad Idrees has called upon the teachers to own their institutions and impart quality education to students for the development of the nation.

“We need to show sense of ownership to our institutes and teach the students with devotion and sincerity to prepare them for meeting the challenges posed by the advancements in the field of education worldwide,” he told a ceremony held at University Model School here on Thursday.

At the event, 14 position-holders students in the recently announced results of the matriculation by Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education Peshawar were given awards.

The vice-chancellor urged the students to continue their hard work to be able to go to professional colleges and serve the people and the country in future. He said that most of the students had the capabilities to excel in the field of education but the teachers required hard work to polish their talent and prepare them for their future assignments.

He said that graduates of University of Peshawar were performing well in many areas across the world and its credit went to the teachers.

He also thanked the provincial government helping the university to overcome its financial crisis. He hoped that the employees of the university would speed up their work to help the children through education.

On the occasion, UMS Principal Nighat Khattak praised the students for showing excellence in the matriculation examinations and congratulated the teachers for grooming the students in better way.

She said that of the total 122 students appeared in examinations, 108 had got grade A-1, 9 grade A and only four were placed in grade B. Students also presented tableaus and attracted appreciation from the audience.

The event also featured Naat, national songs and anthem.
