Residents seek early completion of Shangla road

SHANGLA: The residents of Khataksar area here have demanded early completion of the under-construction Butyal-Khataksar Road’s section-II.

Talking to mediapersons on Sunday, they said work on the road had been stopped after the recent rains, and landslides had also blocked it at several points.

The residents said that they were forced to take patients to hospitals on charpoys due to the dilapidated condition of the road, which further deteriorated after the recent rains.

Hussain Ahmed, a local, said the road condition’s had worsened after its widening work was started. He said the contractor did not resume work on it after rains some three weeks ago.

Mohammad Umar, who daily uses the road to go to his workplace, said his bike regularly developed faults due to bad condition of the road.

Sherin Khan, a pick-up driver, said the people hoped the remaining work on the road would be complete soon.

He urged the communication and works department to ensure completion of work within the scheduled time to help ease the people’s suffering.
