They said that unknown persons opened fire at a constable, identified as Shah Mast Khan, in the Mehr Gul Kallay Mira Kachori area within the jurisdiction of Chamkani police station on the outskirts of the provincial capital on Thursday night. He died on the spot.

The funeral prayers of the martyred cop were offered at Peshawar’s police headquarters on Friday.

Meanwhile, a policeman was martyred and another injured when unidentified assailants targeted law enforcers deployed at a hospital in Jandola, a merged tehsil of Tank district, on Friday.

According to police, the attackers opened fire and hurled a hand grenade at the policemen stationed at the hospital’s entrance before fleeing the scene.

Police personnel reached the site and launched a search operation in the area following the attack, police said.

Further details about the nature of the attack and the assailants were not immediately available.

Meanwhile, funeral prayers for the martyred constable, Sirajuddin, were held at the police lines with full official honours.
