LAHORE, Nov 13: President Gen Pervez Musharraf has asked legislators of the ruling PML to approach their party’s chief Chaudhry Shujaat Husain for resolution of any grievances or problems.

Talking to some reporters after a meeting with Punjab Chief Minister Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi at the Army’s Guest House here, President Musharraf said if he was in a position he was willing to play any role for solving their problems. “But I am opposed to taking party’s internal differences to the media or creating a situation of political confrontation. This is being done in a wrong way and at a wrong time,” the president said, according to a statement released by the PML.

He said that at a time when the government was busy in relief activities and efforts were being made to settle issues of dams and the National Finance Commission award, anarchy or factionalism in the PML did not augur well. “I am opposed to grouping or split in the ruling party.”

The president reportedly directed the chief minister to take appropriate steps to implement the decisions taken at the nazims’ convention in Islamabad.

He praised the Punjab chief minister for the steps taken to help quake victims, especially his ‘adopt a family’ programme.

A number of other issues also came under discussion at the two-hour meeting.
