OKARA: A man threw acid on two minor sisters travelling by a bus, allegedly after he was denied the seat where the victims were sitting with their aunt.

As per the first information report lodged with Haveli Lakha police by the father of girls Fajar (6) and Mehrin (9), her daughters were travelling by a bus with their aunt, Shamshad Begum, to their native Jiway Baloch village from Minchanabad on Monday evening.

Complainant Shahzad said that at Mahant Roshan stop, three men boarded the bus. One of them, later identified as Khalil, a resident of Nowshera Virkan, Gujranwala district, attempted to sit on the seat already occupied by the minor girls, he said.

As the girls’ aunt stopped Khalil from sitting there, his two companions started threatening Shamshad Begum that if she resisted they would throw acid, they were carrying in a plastic bottle, on the girls.

As the aunt exchanged words with them, Khalil opened the bottle and doused the minor girls with acid. As a result, the girls suffered burns on various parts of their bodies.

The suspect and his two accomplices left the bus immediately after acid attack.

Later, the police registered a case against Khalil and his two unidentified accomplices under Section 336-B of the Pakistan Penal Code (PPC).
