RAWALPINDI: Heavy rain lashed the twin cities of Rawalpindi and Islamabad on Sunday, turning the weather chilly but at the same time creating a mess on roads and streets.

According to the meteorological department, temperature in both cities fell to 14°C, while 7mm of rain was recorded at Zero Point and Saidpur, 3mm at Bokra in Islamabad, 4mm at Chaklala and 11mm at Shamsabad in Rawalpindi.

The Met Office predicted that a westerly wave was still active in upper parts of the country and likely to persist on Monday morning. On the other hand, dry weather is expected in most parts of the country but it will be cold in hilly areas whereas rain wind-thunderstorm is expected in isolated places in Gilgit-Baltistan, Kashmir and its adjoining hilly areas.

People woke up to a rainy Sunday as rain continued until evening varying from drizzles to heavy showers.

Talking to Dawn, a farmer near Rawat said: “The wheat crop will get enough water and it will grow within its time period.”
