NAROWAL: PML-N leader Khwaja Muhammad Asif says depreciation of rupee has increased the country’s debt by Rs25,000bn and Pakistan is bankrupt due to the poor policies of the PTI government.

He was addressing a demonstration during the protest of the Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) against the rising inflation and a hike in prices of petroleum products in the country.

Mr Asif said petrol was being sold at Rs138 to Rs140 per litre in the country and reminded Prime Minister Imran Khan of his statement in which he would term the PM a thief for raising prices of electricity and petrol.

Referring to Imran Khan, Mr Asif said the one who made claims of giving five million houses to the people could not give even five huts. He said Imran had made claims of giving 10m jobs but he had deprived the Pakistanis of basic food and they had no money to buy medicines.

The PML-N leader said the country had gone bankrupt due to the PTI government’s flawed policies.

The PDM staged a procession up to Allama Iqbal Chowk from the city’s centre against inflation. The participants in the protest were holding placards and banners while chanting slogans against the government.
