PESHAWAR: The city police will deploy 1,500 cops to maintain law and order during the Eid Miladun Nabi on Tuesday (today).

A statement issued here said the police had finalised a security plan for the city to ensure peaceful passage of the auspicious occasion. Besides, strict vigilance at the city’s exit and entry points, the police have also set up checking points inside the city.

The statement said bomb disposal unit and sniffer dogs would be deployed to sweep routes of the processions and venues of other events for the explosives.

Personnel from the Anti-Terrorism Squad, City Patrol Force, Rapid Response Force and other units would also be deployed for the security purpose.

The city traffic police have also chalked out a plan for Tuesday, deploying 1,000 wardens across the city to ensure smooth flow of traffic.

It said the rider squad personnel and fork lifters would also be deployed in all the sectors of the city during the day.
