HARIPUR, Nov 11: A minor girl was killed after being criminally assaulted in the City police station area on Thursday night, official sources said. Police quoted one Mohammad Ayub of Shah Mohammad village as saying that his five-year-old daughter was playing outside the home at around 6pm on Thursday, but then she went missing.

The family tried to find her but failed. However, on Friday morning, people her body in a watercourse near Rangeela water pond. The body was taken to the DHQ hospital where Dr Amina and MS Dr Nawaz Khan performed an autopsy.

The doctors confirmed that the girl was first sexually molested and then thrown into the watercourse in an unconscious state. Presumably, the doctors said, she died due to drowning in the water.

They said that the body did not carry any sign of injury other than that of molestation.

Replying to a question, the doctors said that the condition of the body suggested that the victim had been sexually assaulted either repeatedly or by more than one person.

Meanwhile, an elderly man was shot dead following a dispute in Bheer village some 26 km from here on Thursday.

The Khalabat township police quoted one Nazia Aslam, daughter of Mohammad Aslam, as saying that her father was home when one Shakeel Ahmad of the same village called him out and opened fire at him injuring him seriously.

He was taken to a hospital but died before getting any medical aid.
