(EDITORIAL) Once again there has been recrudescence of killing in Calcutta; in Bombay killing has never really ceased since it started … with the coming of the Hindu Government into power. Ahmedabad, Ahmednagar, Dacca, and many other names are … gruesome reminders that Hate still stalks the land… .

… What is the situation which is keeping this hatred alive and bids fair to turn India’s populous towns, cities and even villages into graveyards? We have no hesitation in answering the question: Congress arrogance. Congressmen feel that they have become masters of India because the British have handed over the Central Government to their leaders and by-passed the Muslim League. …They are sure that the British bayonet is now at their service.

… We would urge the leaders of the Hindu nation to break away from the toils of British imperial policy… . We would ask them not to rely on … the numerous measures of repression which their British predecessors have placed on the statute book…. If they do, they will fail as ignominiously in their attempt to suppress the Muslims as the British failed to suppress the Congress….
