KARACHI, Nov 9: The Pakistan People’s Party on Wednesday condemned sacking of 99 employees of the Port Dock Master, and asked the government to stop forthwith its “policy of snatching jobs from workers”.

The party’s Information Secretary Taj Haider said in a statement issued here on Wednesday that 99 staffers of the PDM working on mooring and un-mooring exercise, had been asked by the authorities to return home when they tried to resume work after Eid holidays. The workers were told that the section was privatized, he said.

He maintained that it was absurd to privatize the vital national assets like the KTP, and criticized the concerned federal minister for rendering Karachi people jobless.

The PPP leader said that the institutions of national importance were foundation of the country’s economy and resorting to privatize them was against the interest and security of the country.

He demanded a halt to the entire process of privatization and reinstatement of sacked workers.

DISCIPLINARY ACTION: PPP Sindh’s General Secretary Nafees Siddiqui on Wednesday sent cases of breach of party discipline against the party’s Hyderabad Division President Abdul Sattar Bachani, MNA Qurban Ali Shah, ticket-holder Iftikhar Hussain, Malik Fayyaz, Haroon Rashid and Nasir Kareem to the party’s disciplinary committee.

According to a PPP press release, the committee would investigate the cases and submit its report to the party’s provincial chief who would forward the same to Chairperson Benazir Bhutto for a final decision.—PPI
