RAWALPINDI: As many as 2,500 police personnel were deployed on security duty to facilitate the public during the Pakistan National T-20 cup matches.

Matches began on Sept 23 and will go on until Oct 23, 2021.

A total of 114 traffic police officials will be deployed to direct people towards alternative traffic routes. Increased security measures like use of metal detectors, walk-through gates and deployment of snipers on rooftops of buildings around the stadium have been taken.

On the other hand, a traffic plan has been chalked out to facilitate the public during matches. According to a security official, there is no threat in Rawalpindi but law enforcement does not want to take any chances, which is why all possible security measures will be taken.

As part of the security arrangement, Elite Force, Dolphin Force, District Police and Lady Police will perform security and patrolling duties.

A police spokesman said effective security arrangements have been taken. Entry in the stadium will be allowed after body search and no parking will be allowed except in the allotted space.

Duty Officer (Traffic Headquarters) Mohammad Waseem formulated a traffic plan to provide the best traffic facilities to citizens during the matches.

According to the traffic plan, 114 traffic police personnel will be deployed to ensure smooth flow of traffic in the city; people will be able to take alternative routes.

Police have been directed to keep a close watch on suspicious vehicles (specifically those with tinted windows) and motorcycles.

Strict action should be taken against vehicles without number plates and motorcycles, Mr Waseem said, adding that providing traffic facilities to citizens along with traffic law enforcement will be the top priority of traffic police.
