MUZAFFARABAD: A man at the wheel of an excavator died after the vehicle fell into a ravine in Neelum valley on Thursday, police said.

He was bringing the Public Works Department owned excavator to Kundal Shahi after carrying out an assigned job in the vicinity of Kuttan colony when it fell hundreds of feet down the hilly road onto the rocky bank of a water channel at about 4pm, for reasons that could not be ascertained immediately, a police official Mohammad Shabbir told Dawn.

As a result, 53-year-old Lal Hussain Qureshi, a local resident, died on the spot.
