CHAGAI: Seventeen non-duty paid vehicles have been confiscated during a joint crackdown by the Pakistan Customs and Frontier Corps in Nokundi area of Chagai district.

A customs spokesman on Saturday said that the worth of the confiscated vehicles is Rs60 million.

Sources told Dawn that these vehicles were being smuggled from Afghanistan.

According to the spokesman, a plan has been made to launch such more crackdowns against non-duty paid vehicles in other parts of the country as smuggling of such illegal vehicles causes huge losses to national exchequer.

Meanwhile, a Levies Force sepoy died in mysterious circumstances after being found critically injured at his home in Dalbandin on Saturday.

According to official sources, Mohammad Hussain was shifted to Prince Fahad Hospital as he had received two bullet injuries in his abdomen. He was referred to a hospital in Quetta after getting initial treatment in the hospital. However, he succumbed to the injuries on the way, the sources said.
