SAHIWAL: A woman gave birth to a baby in front of the Pakpattan DHQ Hospital on Wednesday night after being denied admission to the gynae ward because of non-availability of anaesthetist and gynaecologist.

Reports said Naseem Bibi of village 28/SP was brought to the hospital for delivery.

According to the family, there was no gynaecologist at the hospital and the paramedical staff refused to admit her.

The family decided to wait till morning. After some time, the woman gave birth on the road in front of the hospital.

Later, the hospital staff took the baby and the mother to the hospital.

ENCOUNTER: An ‘outlaw’ was killed and two others managed their escape in an ‘encounter’ near village 87/9-L on Wednesday night.

City SHO Rana Asif told Dawn that Touqeer was wanted in more than 14 cases of attempted dacoity, murder, car and motorcycle theft. He said Touqeer was involved in the murder of bakery owner Imran during robbery at Kot Khadim Ali Shah two weeks back.

He said the police received information about a robbery near Eastern bypass. A team rushed to the spot while the Ghala Mandi SHO along with two Elite vehicles blocked roads leading to Anjum Farm.

On seeing police, Touqeer and two accomplices riding a bike opened fire. After 30-minute ‘encounter’, police found him dead while his accomplices managed to escape.
