LAHORE: The Pakistan Volleyball team will leave for Japan on Monday night to participate in the Asian Senior Volleyball Championship being held in Funabashi, Chiba Prefecture of Japan from Sept 12 to 19.

Talking to Dawn, Pakistan Volleyball Federation chairman Chaudhry Mohammad Yaqoob said the team had prepared well under the coaching of Iranian coach Rahaman Mohammadirad, adding the PVF was targeting the semi-finals as its first goal.

Sixteen teams, which have qualified from a total of 64 countries, would be participating [in Funabashi].

In Funabashi, Pakistan play their opening match against Hong Kong on Sept 12 followed by games against Thailand (Sept 13) and top seeds Iran (Sept 14).
