MARDAN: Rivals shot dead an undertrial prisoner outside the Mardan jail after he was returning in police escort from appearing in the Anti-Terrorism Court in a murder case here on Saturday

The victim was identified as Waheed Gul. After hearing of the case, the police officials were taking him back to the jail when three armed men opened fire on him.

He died instantly. The attackers, later identified as Afzal Khan, Niyaz Ali and Hasan Ali, escaped the area after the incident.

The Sheikh Maltoon Town police registered FIR against the three killers on the complaint of Ms Menha, the mother of the slain person.

The police started making raids to arrest the three attackers.
