Covid claims 40 more lives in Punjab

LAHORE: Punjab reported 1,320 new Covid-19 cases and 40 deaths in the last 24 hours.

The total number of infections has increased to 386,578 and the death toll now stands at 11,706.

As many as 40 deaths were reported in Punjab, including 14 in Lahore, during the last 24 hours.

During this period, 561 new positive cases were reported in Lahore, 151 in Rawalpindi, 89 in Multan, 68 in Faisalabad, 65 in Sargodha, 51 in Gujranwala, 39 in Layyah, 36 in Bahawalpur, 27 in Dera Ghazi Khan, 23 in Rahim Yar Khan, 21 in Mianwali, 20 in Sialkot, 18 each in Sahiwal and Sheikhupura, 14 in Okara, 10 each in Bahawalnagar, Gujrat and Mandi Bahauddin, eight each in Chiniot, Nankana and Vehari, seven in Kasur, six in Khanewal, five each in Chakwal, Lodhran and Pakpattan, four each in Attock, Jhelum, Muzaffargarh and Rajanpur, and three each in Bhakkar and Narowal.

On Thursday, the overall positivity rate was recorded at 6.2 in all the cities across the province. Lahore recorded a positivity rate of 7, Faisalabad 8.2, Rawalpindi 10.4, Multan 14.3 and Gujranwala 5.5.
