DERA ISMAIL KHAN: Three snake-bitten children died due to a lack of antidote in the Civil Hospital Daraban here on Sunday.

Dawood, a resident of Musa Zai Sharif area of Daraban tehsil, told reporters that his two-year-old daughter was playing in the courtyard when she was bitten by a snake. He said she was rushed to the civil hospital, but she died there for want of antidote.

Meanwhile, another minor boy and a girl were taken to the civil hospital after they were bitten by snakes, but they lost their lives there.

Residents of Daraban Kalan demanded of the government to ensure availability of antidote and anti-rabies vaccine in hospitals of Dera Ismail Khan.

Separately, the Gomal University police arrested a drug dealer and seized 1,050 grams of hashish from him on Sunday.

He was identified as Javed, a resident of Kulachi tehsil.

The police registered a case against him under the Anti-Narcotics Act.
