Gujranwala to plant 50,000 trees

GUJRANWALA: The Parks and Horticulture authority (PHA) is going to set a world record of planting 50,000 trees in one minute on Thursday, PHA Chairman SA Hameed said on Tuesday.

Prime Minister Imran Khan will inaugurate the event.

Mr Hameed said making world records on Aug 12 will be an honour for Gujranwala and a source of pride for the entire nation.

Director General Sajjad Ahmed Saqib said preparations for the event were ongoing in collaboration with the district administration and other agencies.

CRACKDOWN: After 10 people were killed in a cylinder accident on GT Road, the RTA secretary has started a crackdown on vehicles with illegal gas cylinders and impounded the cylinders of several dozen vehicles.
