MOHMAND: Pakistan Peoples Party workers staged a protest demonstration in the Ekkaghound Bazaar in Lower Mohmand here on Monday against alleged irregularities in Zakat distribution, excessive electricity loadshedding and inflation.

The protesters led by Malik Jangriz Khan, former candidate from PK-103 Arshad Bakhtiyar Khan and Fazli Hadi blocked the Peshawar-Bajaur Road, and chanted slogans against the district zakat chairman.

Addressing the protesters, the PPP leaders alleged that Zakat department officials were involved in distributing money among PTI workers and their relatives instead of the deserving people.

On the occasion, Malik Jangriz said the government’s policies had caused misery to the poor people. He said the district Zakat committee should be immediately suspended, and transparent investigation should be conducted against corrupt officials.

PPP Mohmand information secretary Sartaj Khan alleged that the district administration officials were also involved in irregularities in Zakat distribution.
