PESHAWAR: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Governor Faisal Karim Kundi and Chief Minister Sohail Afridi on Friday vowed to continue their struggle for protecting the province’s rights.

They showed their resolve during a meeting held at the Governor’s House, where both leaders discussed the ‘ban’ on the transportation of wheat from Punjab, besides the closure of CNG stations in the province, according to an official statement issued from the Governor’s House.

“The governor and the chief minister termed the wheat supply suspension a violation of the Constitution and paid tribute to the political parties for demonstrating ‘unity’ on issues concerning provincial rights,” the statement said, adding that both the leaders expressed the hope that the federal government would fulfil its commitments regarding the restoration of wheat supply to the province.

The meeting also discussed the role of political parties and provincial leadership in raising the province’s case with the federal government. They also exchanged views on the overall law and order situation in the province.

Later, Mr Kundi administered the oath to the newly-appointed minister Mohammad Adnan Qadri during a ceremony held at the Governor’s House.

Mr Afridi, other cabinet members and senior government officials were also present on the occasion.
